The new Rodalia station of Sagrera-Meridiana, which has been built at a cost of EUR34,321,667, will be one of the strategic points in the public transport network in the Barcelona metropolitan area. It was constructed within the framework of the agreement signed on 17th May 2007 between the Ministry of Development and the Generalitat for the carrying out of engineering work on the conventional width railway network in Catalonia.

The new installations are located inside the tunnel that runs under Avinguda de la Meridiana, between lines L1 and L5 of the Metro, next to the Sagrera station. Its construction will permit passengers from lines R3, R4 and R7 of Rodalies de Catalunya to change to lines L1 and L5 and the future lines L4 and L9 of the Metro. This will improve connections between both public transport services. When it is fully operational it will be used by approximately 130,000 passengers per day.
