What is the Strategic Plan "Catalunia on the Network"?
   
The Commissioner's Office for the Information Society and LOCALRET , a local consortium formed by the majority of municipalities throughout Catalonia, have decided to share their responsibilities and to jointly call upon Catalan society to take part in a global project of reflection in this particular field, in order to define a STRATEGIC PLAN for the Information Society in Catalonia.
  
The Strategic Plan, Catalonia on the Network, is a proposal for change consisting of 38 initiatives, which will lead to the deployment of 155 actions that aim to place Catalonia in a leading position in the new Information Society.

The process of defining the Strategic Plan was begun in November 1998 through an institutional agreement endorsed by the Parliament of Catalonia (Agreement of 18.11.1998): Agreement between the Generalitat, Commissioner's Office for the Information Society and LOCALRET, signed by M. Puig and A. Farrés.

In the course of 3 conventional sessions and several virtual sessions the actions proposed by the official document of the Strategic Plan, Catalonia on the Network, have been analysed and a consensus has been reached on them.
 
The deployment and monitoring of the proposed actions, now a Catalonia-wide project, will fall to the responsibility of the Monitoring Office.
