In carrying out the project different types of tools and software are used. There are some which are in general use, such as Internet navigators, web page editors, image editors, text editors, etc. Specifically for translation there are specific tools called “assisted translation
tools” and   "automatic translation tools" .

Assisted translation tools
These tools are in reality databases which allow translations to be stored, in such a way that a translation professional only has to translate the phrases once. When the phrase is repeated, the translation appears automatically.

It must be said that, in the processes of translating web sites, automatic translation tools are more and more often combined with translation memory tools.

For more information on the functions and details of this type of programme, some addresses of interest are set out below:

Dejà Vú (www.atril.com)
sales@atril.com (office in Barcelona)
Transit (www.star-spain.com/ca/)

SDLX (http://www.sdlintl.com/es/home.htm)
Trados Translator's Workbench (www.trados.com)

Automatic translation tools
These tools enable rough draft of the translation to be obtained in record time. It is generally said that automatic translation tools save 80% of the task of translation. This percentage improves in the case of translations from one romance language to another, as in the case of Spanish to Catalan. However, the version produced automatically will need accurate and editing and revision subsequently by an expert in the languages of departure and destination.

Hereunder are some addresses of interest:
