| The largest annual European conference on eHealth, the eHealth Week, will be taking place in Copenhagen from 7 to 9 May coinciding with the Danish presidency of the Council of the European Union. This year's edition will stress the continuity of assistance and how the health information flows between the hospital and the home. Furthermore, the strengthening of the power of patients and the opportunities for investing in information technologies in order to manage chronic illness are other outstanding subjects of the programmed talks, seminars and workshops. Politicians, health managers and professionals of health and ICT from all around Europe will meet at the eHealth Week. |
The eHealth Week 2012 will include the 10th High Level
Conference on eHealth organised by the European Commission
and the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and
the 6th edition of the WoHIT (World of Health IT Conference
& Exhibition) by HIMSS Europe (Healthcare Information
and Management Systems Society Europe). These two very important
international events each year bring together the key players of
the health sector in Europe. The main goal of the developers of the
eHealth Week 2012 is to create the ideal environment for
promoting and encouraging innovation in ICTs applied to the area of
health.
The fair of the eHealth sector organised in Copenhagen will be
attended by more than a hundred international
exhibitors. The symposiums, workshops and discussion
groups of the eHealth Week 2012 are also hoped to bring in
more than 4,000 professionals interested in the
optimal use of the advanced management systems and ICTs in the
field of health. The potential of eHealth in improving the
quality of assistance and in supporting patient medical attention
focused on the patient will be one of the key subjects of
discussion amongst congressioners. The meeting in Copenhagen will
also deal with return on investment (ROI) in using
ICTs in health, the increase in the exchange of health
data beyond local, regional and national frontiers, and
there will be discussion on what future hospitals must be
like.
The eHealth Week 2012 will also include the presentation of the
European Innovation Partnership on Healthy and
Active Aging– EIP, a cooperation project between
European institutions to promote innovation for active and
healthy ageing.
