In Ireland we are delighted that we are now putting on regular training workshops for Primary Healthcare professionals at the rate of three per year. We have our own clinical Guidelines for alcohol and Primary Care available and we also have patient leaflets on health risks available on line for health professionals to access free of charge. We are working on all sorts of other projects but funding is a major problem in these recessionary times. A very successful conference on “Alcohol and drugs, the low-down on Depression and Suicide” was held in Cork late last year. We plan to target specific health risks associated with alcohol in our work plans for the coming year.
