The 8th Conference of European Regions with legislative power (REGLEG) is was carried on the 15th and 16th of November 2007 at the Palau de Pedralbes in Barcelona, organised by the Generalitat of Catalonia, which holds the presidency of this body this year.
Representatives from the 73 regions forming REGLEG shall attend this work meeting, including the different presidents from the Spanish autonomous regions, and representatives from the EU and other European bodies.
The objective of this conference it has been to strengthen the role of the regions with legislative power at the core of the European Union, currently marked by the EU Reform Treaty, or Treaty of Lisbon, which was approved by the European Council last October 2007. The participants they passed the Barcelona Declaration, which has been subsequently be sent to the European institutions.
