The call for submissions to present candidatures for the 8th Ramon Margalef Award for Ecology has been made. The candidatures must reach the Technical Secretariat of the Prize before 17 May 2012 and must be submitted by qualified representatives from universities, schools of higher learning, research centres, academies of science, or by persons who have been awarded the Prize or who have been members of the Jury of the Prize.
Exceptionally,candidatures submitted by persons with an acknowledged prestige in the field of ecology will also be admitted. The candidatures must be submitted in a letter or statement of well-reasoned justification signed and dated by the presenter, accompanied by a curriculum vitae of the candidate. The candidatures should be sent to the Technical Secretariat of the Premi Ramon Margalef, Department of the Presidency of the Generalitat of Catalonia. In 2004, the Government decided to establish this Prize in the name of Ramon Margalef (Barcelona 1919-2004), one of the leading Catalan scientists of all time. The Prize is awarded annually and is endowed with 100,000 euros, making it the most important prize awarded by the Generalitat, and the most important prize, on an international level, exclusively dedicated to ecological and environmental sciences.
