Statute of Autonomy of 1979
The Catalan Statute of Autonomy defines the Catalan national political institutions, their powers and their relations with the Spanish government. The political institutions defined in the Statute make up the Government of Catalonia.

On 18 December 1979, King Juan Carlos I approved, as an Act of Parliament, the Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia (Organic Act 4/1979, 18 December, published in the Spanish government's official gazette on 22 December 1979 and in the official gazette of the Catalan government on 31 December of the same year).
